Exploring Black and White photography

Since the beginning of my photography journey, I have been drawn to the beauty and emotional resonance of colors. Color has always felt like a natural language for expressing the richness of the world around us.

Yet, there’s a unique power in stripping an image down to its essentials. Black and white photography invites us to look beyond the surface, to notice the subtle interplay of light, shadow, and form. Without the distraction of color, the viewer’s attention is drawn to gesture, texture, and the emotional undercurrents that might otherwise go unnoticed.

For me, working in monochrome is a way to distill a scene to its emotional core. The absence of color can evoke a sense of timelessness and universality, allowing the subject’s vulnerability or strength to come forward. In my recent series, I found that black and white heightened the sense of mystery and contemplation—especially when exploring themes like transformation, memory, and the boundaries between presence and absence.
